The parallels with other regimes are exaggerated. The greater and more pronounced parallel appears to be between domestic media and international media... One appears to parrot the other.

Exaggerated somewhat perhaps however, much like what's happened in the past several months, this is unprecedented, not a reflection of checked power, and frankly terrifying that some may dismiss it as simply 'shaking things up'.
