I don’t have a microwave so how much time should I heat the soap and on what temperature?

I'm seeing a lot of very cute Halloween molds for cakes and things that are made out of metal. Would soap release as nicely from a metal mold or should I stick with plastic and silicon?
The O'Neil Sisters
We haven't tried using metal molds for soapmaking. The plastic and silicon kind work really well -- and it's easy to pop the soaps out because the molds are flexible. We've seen some fun Halloween molds made of silicone that are meant to be ice cube trays -- perfect for soaps! Hope that helps!

And one more thing... adding premade soap shapes into clear shapes... will y'all have a video on doing this? What's the trick? And also Dustin with glitter... is food grade dust powder ok?
The O'Neil Sisters
Great idea, Laura! Those clear soaps with premade soap shapes in them are so cool! As for adding "glitter" to soaps, whatever you choose needs to be skin safe. We've seen people use powdered eye shadow. Let us know how it goes if you try it!

A couple questions... where do you buy your soap dyes? Is there a specific brand you prefer? Also, I had seen some amazing soap molds (armadillos, spiders, geodes) that didn't seem like a typical easy to find mold. Do you know where to find these?
The O'Neil Sisters
Great questions, Laura! We generally buy our soap dyes at the craft store (Michaels, JoAnn's, and Hobby Lobby), but we know they're available online too. And we don't really have a brand preference. As for soap molds, we get them at craft stores, on Amazon, and Etsy. You can use candy molds and silicone ice cube molds, too. You'd be amazed what's out there!
