Today's Nerdy Curio is brought to you by Minute Earth. With our current understanding of evolutionary history and our strategy of cladistic naming, if we wanted to have both goldfish and sharks under a single group called "fish", then mammals must also be called fish.

Didn’t make sense at all. How do you randomly cut And paste the human race to a fish in a clade?? No explanation here. Bad.

It depends on how big you draw your clade and make the “cut” to separate. Is explained just fine.

Nothing to do with beliefs. All based on evolution and how many genes we share. You share a ton of genes with a banana, don’t you know? You’d have to draw a pretty big clade to encompass both humans and bananas. Less than a clade for humans and fish together. All depends on perspective, we all come from the same one beginning of life though.
