One moon ship means you have to land the whole thing where you’re going. The reference of two means having the main module moonship and then the lunar landing module moonship. Two moonships better than one because you don’t have to manage the whole mass of the one moonship landing, just the smaller mass of the second one. Easier engineering/physics with smaller mass generally
