We live in a RV and have a leaking pipe under the kitchen sink....all plastic...and looks like a compression joint. What can I do to stop it from leaking, since Teflon is a no no? And....I am having to squeeze under the sink in order to get to the pipe!

Seth, is teflon tape appropriate for threaded plastic fittings? Your examples were alll metal. (Of course, I do not mean glued PVC.)
The Journeyman
Thomas, when using threaded plastic fittings, especially if you're adapting to another material like galvanized metal or brass, I definitely recommend using teflon. Care must be taken to not split the fitting. Don't use more than two wraps of teflon, use pipe thread sealant, and be sure to not over tighten. Thanks!

I've never heard of using both tape and dope. I am thinking, smear dope on male thread, cover with 2 wraps tape, then another smear for good measure. That about right?
The Journeyman
Teflon first, then a small coat of thread sealant. Thread sealant acts as a great lubricant as well as a second line of defense against leaks. Thanks.
