I understand that diplomatic immunity is important in many situations, but I do not understand it in this one. Certainly, a country does not want one's diplomat to be able to be arrested for any reason, but should that allow someone to be able to kill another person, and get away with it? I certainly don't think so. No one should be able to take someone's life with no consequences.
