I grown up and got my two masters degrees in Eastern Europe. I was shocked by the importance of sports to get in to universities and colleges here. There colleges and universities are judged by and picked only by academics. If you are a professional athlete, you go to the professional sport clubs. Every country has their popular sports, football you probably hear about, but it’s only popular in America. In Eastern Europe people get excited soccer, water polo, swimming. It’s a different mindset.
