I have been making my own detergent for a couple of years now and experimenting with different things. I generally use Fels Naptha soap because it is easier to grate or freeze the Zote before grating and it grates easier. Wonderful demonstration!

I have tried this, and I like it, I can not get Zote in Canada but have found in the bulk store grandma's soap works just as well. we recently got new washers in our rented building tried the tide pods and they did not dissolve left my sheets in a glued state which everyone said was impossible, used this recipe an now sheets are fine, thank you as I have hard water and serious skin allergies. Thank you.
