It's time consuming but it's great to be able to make your own patterns. Good luck! :)

In sewing, I had occassion to measure from my neck to the end of my shoulder. Funny thing; my left shoulder is 1.5 inches bigger than my right. No wonder my right bra strap slips. When you tailor make something you can adjust for these little oddities of your own figure and get a perfect fit. PS I once lengthened a dress for my long waisted Gr.Daughter by lenght'ning the straps, but I forgot that the neckline would also end up lower. For an adult there would have been a lot of cleavage!

This is true. We can't always fit in a nice little box. It's good to know your body

When I use elastic, I mark with a pin the side seams, center front and center back. Then I stretch as I sew to fit 1/4th of the elastic between pins. Sometimes I pin again in between the first 4 so that I have less estimating of how much to stretch.
