Would like to know how to make beginning chain stretchy. Mine won't give. Love your teaching.
Moogly
Thank you! For a stretchy beginning chain, you need to use foundation stitches. There's a lesson here of mine called "Foundation Double Crochet" - I'm not at all sure how to link it, but that's what you want for an elastic-type effect. :)

I don't understand how a stitch isn't counted, just hangs off the side. Can you give examples where it would be used instead of where it is counted please? Thanks in advance.
Moogly
Sometimes a turning chain isn't counted as a stitch, which means you wouldn't crochet into it in the next row.
