Another reason that reindeer production might be stymied is simply that in Alaska, only the native Indian and Eskimo may own them....Why??? I don't know, but as a long time (previous) resident of Alaska, I loved reindeer meat - and even had a sandwich in my lodge called "Santa's Last Ride"...
