Thank you! I've read the "Dummy Books" on dSLR and my Nikon 5300... but couldn't "put it all together" -- your videos are SO helpful!!!

This lesson was great! Really tried to practice with these rules this weekend! Loved the results!

Hi Carole - I love it when my students take action :) I am really glad you put the lesson into practice. That's the only way the concepts can really sink in. I would love to see some of the results you got. Maybe you could send some of your favorites to me at ken@easydslr.com - I could share with other members and subscribers - get them motivated!

Great information. I'm eager to check my photos and see if I have followed the Golden Mean.

So if i'm understanding right the 1.6 crop is just about knowing that your 200mm is really 320mm and your 17mm is not quite as wide of an angle. Thanks Ken!
Ken at EasyDSLR
Yes - precisely. If you put a 200mm lens on your 1.6 crop factor camera you effectively have the equivalent of a 320mm lens on a Full Frame camera which means you are actually getting better magnification on your crop factor. Usually, when I want to get closer to the action with my 70-200mm - I put it on my Canon 60D (1.6x crop) rather than put it on my Canon 5D (full frame). It's like having a 1.6x teleconverter!
