I'm always bothered by the "real world" use for math. Is there an actual use for these calculations or are they strictly a means to determine higher level values?

Thanks for a great lesson! I have a question though; you see in the proof of the first equation x+3<delta and in the second equation x+3<epson/7. So how is it that we say that after the substitution, delta<epson/7? If we are taking the absolute value of x+3, shouldn't delta be equal to espon/7?
