Thanks a lot for a further interesting spelling lesson.Does reading improve my spelling? You say :No,it won´t. sorry but I have to disagree.Do you really mean that?.I am convinced reading supports proper spelling by repeating the most important words and letter patterns. That is a clear correlation and it must catch Davd Crystal´s eye. Nevertheless you are right, spelling is much more difficult than reading.Cle
How to Spell
Hi Cle, reading can support spelling if you consciously see and notice patterns and rules, but the majority of us just don't do that when reading - unless we're doing spelling lessons and have to notice the spellings! If reading helps you then that's fantastic. Research shows that when you study spelling patterns and rules it helps your reading.

Thank you! It has made me appreciate why my son can read well but not spell. He has a tutor that 'plays' with words with him and this appears to help with locking in how a word is spelt.

Hi S O, I'm so pleased the information was useful. "Playing" with words is a good strategy - fun and helpful.
