I think this is a great tool but don't realy understand how to use it. Can you take things back to why/when/how to use this. Maybe when not to use it?

Fat Quarter Shop
Design boards are very helpful in order to keep all your fabric pieces together. For example if you are assembling a block, you can easily transport your fabric without the worry of it shifting. I would suggest only using it with small pieces, not like your entire quilt row. I hope this helps. Thanks for your question!
