Going to the store immediately tomorrow and pick up some kale for these amazing chips. Live with grandkids who LOVE their hot Cheetos, etc. Going to turn them on to good eats instead. Great presentation. I have a food dehydrator so even no sun for a day won't be a problem. Great job!!
Evita Ochel
This is excellent to hear Sharon, and yes with a dehydrator, you can make these any day! Your grandkids are very fortunate to have you :) And thank you for your feedback!

Can't wait to try this but since I live in AK, I will have to wait awhile.
Evita Ochel
Yes, the sun is the limiting factor for this process. However I definitely recommend for anyone who wants to make these on a regular basis, to consider investing in a good dehydrator.

Thanks for the good info. I tried them with the bitter kale not knowing there were several different types of the plant and swore it off for good when it was so bitter. I'm going to try it again with the sweet kind. :)
Evita Ochel
I just use the curly kale for these "chips" - the red or green variety. There is also dinosaur kale that I have not tried for these, and I wonder if that one may have been the source of your bitterness. As an added tip, our tastebuds will perceive flavors differently also depending on what constitutes our regular diet, and change throughout our life. So if something doesn't work out the first time, I always encourage to try it again at some other time :)
