The reamer is not to elongate to the hole it's to cut the cords inside the tire better so it doesn't cause separation in the tire which can lead to a tire vibration and a blow out. The best way to patch a tire is the TIA way which long story short dismount the tire after you've found the hole, use pre buff and scrape the area, then you pull a plug threw and buff the area then apply glue the the area and patch and stitch over it.

Thank you for the feedback. I shot this video some time ago. It was also geared toward people that did not have tire changing equipment. Since then standards have changed. I've actually been considering doing an updated video when the opportunity presents itself. Thanks again for your input.

How long does a plug last?
EricTheCarGuy
They often last the life of the tire. Thing is, this type of plug is no longer allowed in many areas. It's now required that a plug/patch be used instead which requires removing the tire from the wheel. Check your local laws to see if you're still able to do this repair.
