Carrie Knits
Yes, I've never done that but you should be able to double your yarn with no problem. Let me know how it turns out! Happy knitting!

I did the cowl as u did but it came out flat so would have to sow it??? Urs was round and did not have to sow! What did i do wrong??? I knitted with the round needles.
Carrie Knits
I have a feeling you turned your needles and knitted back and forth? When holding the needles, you cast onto your 'right' needle and move all the stitches around to the 'left' needle so you start knitting the first stitch you casted on, which is called 'joining in the round.' In knitting flat, your first stitch you knit would be the last one you casted on. Does this make sense? It's so hard to explain so I hope I'm being helpful and not confusing you more. :).
