I'm using a 1/2 size cello and the fingering doesn't sound right what should i do-mckay

Hi, McKay! I know you have a piano at your house, so if you can have someone there play a D-E-F#-G, that will help you find the open D string, then fingers 1, 3, & 4 so you can place tapes on those spots. If that doesn't seem to be working, call me and I'll have you come over so I can put tapes on for you.
