Never would have thought of using my hand to stop flare. I use a flare hood on my camera at times, BUT you have to be careful to be SURE it is all the way on the lens to avoid a rounded photo. : - 0

Be carefull when the lens stops down as things have a tendence too encroach into the shot.

GLAD you pointed this out as I was thinking it was the flare attachment was not on tight. Was a situation where it was too bright to check photos on the electronic viewer for detail as well as I should be checking my photos MORE often in my shadow although after taking photos of a sunset, one's vision is not so good. Not many days go by I do not learn something about taking photos.
