Hi Donnie, your lesson was very informative but i would just like to ask you on how to obtain a near exact match other than blending

Thanks for your question. Yes, this is just a method to help make it look invisible. Even house paint, if we paint a wall and a few years later we try to touch up or paint a strip, using the same paint, you may be able to see a difference. While blending can help with a color a shade or two off, it also helps the new paint blend into the old paint. Anyway, I wanted to clear that up that blending is not really used for bad matches, but to make the invisible repair. (out of characters)

To help answer your question, paint companies have variant decks. For instance, after you find the paint code on the car, you find the color variant deck. Every color has a prime color plus anywhere from 0 up to 10 variants. You can take the color deck to the car and see which one matches the best. That is the one I use. It is usually very close. In fact, some of them are so close, you may be able to get by with a butt match, but I don't like to chance being able to see a difference.

I hope this helps answer your question. If not, let me know and I will dig a little deeper. Thanks for watching the video. I will have more coming soon. Thanks, Donnie

Donnie, you didnt explain exactly how you blend. Do you paint the new paint into the old paint the clear the whole panel?

I do have a video that explains how to blend at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MQ3Yx2h3Rg This is an older video on YouTube and the audio is not the best, but it does a good job of explaining the process.
